The company focuses primarily on unconventional reservoirs where hydrocarbons may be found in challenging geological conditions, such as fractured shales and coalbeds. Quicksilver's producing oil and natural gas properties in the United States are principally located in Texas and in Canada in Alberta and British Columbia. The company had total proved reserves of approximately 1.3 Tcfe at December 31, 2013. Quicksilver's three core development areas include the Barnett Shale, Horn River and Horseshoe Canyon. In addition, the company has an oil exploration opportunity in the Delaware basin in western Texas. Quicksilver actively studies these basins and other basins in North America, which may result in future oil and natural gas acquisitions.
